I made this unprofessional video that’s without edits on a technique I devised for myself to help built the muscle memory to drill straight and true by hand.

Got around to finishing off my mitre shooting board yesterday. It’s a must have in every workshop both hand tool and power tools. Today I’ll be working on another type of mitre shooting board, it’s one that I use regularly. #handtool #handtools #handtoolwoodworking #handmadecrafts #handmadeinaustralia Someone asked to see the ramped shooting board in action. I couldn’t take a video of it, but here is some pics. The beautiful end grain shavings has nothing to do with the board, but it’s the utilisation of the width of the blade that’s the bonus. I’m now working on mitre shooting board for frames and mouldings after which I will build a different mitre shooting board and replacement shooting board as well. #handtoolsonly #handtools #handyoolwoodworking #handtoolwoodworking #madeinaustralia #handcraft Finally got around to finishing it. Now I’m going to be using 3/4 of the blade as opposed to using only a 1/4 to half. The finish I used is shellac which I will cut it back with wire wool and wax. #handtoolsonly #handtools #handtoolwoodworking #handtoolwoodworker #handmadecrafts #handmadeinaustralia I’m making a ramped shooting board so I can utilise the entire length of the blade. I’ve made it with a 3.5 deg ramp which means I can’t shoot anymore more than an inch. I’ll still keep the old shooting board in case I want to shoot anything less than 2inch thick. I think this will be a great addition to my shop made appliances. New workshop tshirt with final logo design. What do you think? Do you like it? Just cut and planed some sample pieces to experiment using different colours with my iron solution. I still get amazed though at the burnished reflective surface a well tuned hand plane leaves behind. I don’t think I ever get used to that “wow” breathtaking feeling. #handroolsonly #handtools #handtoolwoodworking #handtoolwoodwork #handtoolwoodworker All in a day’s work. #handtools #handtoolwoodworking #handtoolsonly #woodworking Can clamps are inexpensive to make and they do a great job in clamping light duty stuff like small boxes, mouldings, face to face glue ups etc. They work great when you build them right but when you don’t the cam doesn’t stay put and the jaws release. It happens. #handtoolschool #handtoolsonlyshop #handtoolsonly #handtoolwoodworking I use a spokeshave to make shallow concave shapes. A well tuned spokeshave with a freshly honed blade sings in use. This spokeshave is cheapest tool I own. I did some minor prep work to it to make it as close as I could get it to work as a premium tool. HNT Gordon spokeshaves is the rave at the moment and would love to give it a go. For now though mine does the job. #handtools #handtoolsonly #handtoolwoodworking
