How about cleaning the machine after the sharpening. You know as silly as you may think this is, it actually works and works quite well. As for metal filings, what if you cut metal on the bandsaw? Do you still think the metal filings will ruin the bearings?
If I were to do this, I would try to catch the filings wit a powerful magnet.
I have magnet i saved from an old bass loudspeaker. Put the magnet in a plastic bag to be able to separate the filings from the magnet.
What about the filings? How to capture them so that they don’t damage the lower bearings or anything else?

An idea came to mind you could place a sheet of paper next to the blade under the teeth so it would catch all the filings.

I think you maybe being over paranoid about the whole thing. I’d just use a vacuum cleaner or a compressor and blow it all out.
